Summers Coming to an End!!
Boy oh Boy! This summer has flown by! Next week is our last week of the Mothers Day Out program at church and what better way to end than this weeks theme of Camping!! Woo woo! We will have a tent, sleeping bags and all kinds of camping goodies!! I have enjoyed my kids this summer and as far as I can tell they have had a blast!! I am sad to see it end but I am even more excited for PlayLearn to start!! The Lord has answered my prayers and is giving me the opportunity to be in the Pre-K room as the assistant teacher with one of the sweetest of persons I have ever met, Ms. Amy Adams!! Down fall...I only get one free week of no work before us teachers go back to start preparing for the school year! But hey I will take what I can get! I am excited to work with Ms. Amy this year, I truly feel like we will work so well together! I am also a little sad because for about 4 months now, I have been volunteering at Loving Choices in Fayetteville. It is a pregnancy crisis center for women. During the school year I can only volunteer for a few hours each week, but this summer I can get a whole day in! Over the past few weeks I have been sitting in on the counseling appointments and learning how to counsel and having a whole day to do so. Once school starts back it limits me to just a few hours, which is only about 2 appointments. But hey, thats ok! I will in time have 2 girls that I will be able to weekly counsel and get to build a relationship with!! So in time I pray that maybe I can take half a day off each week or only work 4 days a week to allow me to counsel on that day!! But only time will tell!! Loving Choices is a wonderful Christian based center that continues to have open doors because of its volunteers and donations!! If you have a spare moment check them out!! http://www.lovingchoices.org/ I hope each of you have had a wonderful not too hot summer!!!
Spontaneous Road Trip/Mini Vaca
Well, Nathaniel finally got a whole weekend off! Of course, it was partly because it was a holiday weekend but hey I will take what I can get!! Nathaniel helped his dad work on their house Saturday and had been for the past few weekends when he had one of the days off. So I kinda had to put my foot down and whine a little to get Sunday to be a day for us!! We decided to take a drive over to Oklahoma to see the Native American museum. Nathaniel had been there one other time on a school field trip. He had always told me he was going to take me to show me my ancestry!
We had alot of fun. They have an entire true village set up and give daily tours. We got to see the small houses they lived in. I never knew it but each family actually had 2 homes, summer & winter! Wouldn't that be nice!! They guide showed us games they played, how they made their bows, arrows, blow guns, bowls, food, etc. Touring museums, galleries etc is something Nathaniel and I both really enjoy doing and tend to do so often!
When we finished there we decided to get something to eat.
While we were eating we decided we would drive up to Broken Arrow to Bass Pro and that we would get a hotel room and stay the night! Since this was a spontaneous decisions, neither of us had clothes etc!. Anyone that knows me, knows I am a major planner and this was defiantly out of the norm for me especially staying the night without clothes! Since it was the 4th of July weekend, we asked the hotel receptionist if there was any firework shows going on that night, Sunday the 3rd. He told us about the Baptist College in town and how they have a huge show every year, and suggested we go back to Bass Pro to park to see the show.
We decided to get some ice cream and head on down to find parking. While trying to make our way to Braums, we had to make it through tons of people and cars. There was people everywhere, from what we heard people drive in yearly to watch the shows there! We finally got some ice cream and started making our way to Bass Pro. We found a spot to park and ask a older couple whom pulled up beside us which direction we should be looking. They told us the direction for the college show but also said we could walk to the other end of the parking lot a bit and see other shows while waiting for the college show to start. We could hear big fireworks going off all around us, sounded like thunder! Fireworks were lighting the sky all around us and before we knew it fireworks were going off right in front of us!! Bass Pro was putting on a show in the parking lot, the opposite side as us! We were able to lay back in the grass and enjoy a beautiful show!! When they finished up we went back to our original spot and waited for the college show to start. Now I can not figure out if it was because we were so close but the Bass Pro show kicked the colleges booty!! Haha! It seemed as if minutes went by between fireworks at the college, but Bass Pros was constant!! They were doing so much, that at one point they had a good fire going on the ground where they were lighting them off but it didnt stop them!! We had a great time!!! Though, we had to get up early to head back, we had made plans to be at my parents for lunch on the 4th. It was a great mini getaway and within those 2 days, I became spoiled getting to spend every minute with the hubby!!
Of course, I took my camera and had a blast taking pics of the fireworks!! Some of the shots are so cool and don't look like fireworks at all!!
